Meet your new Assistant Programmer.
With the help of AI tools like Bolt, Tabnine, ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot, writing efficient, high-quality code has never been more accessible. Whether you’re just getting comfortable with Python or already have coding experience, this workshop will show you how to take your skills to the next level - faster, smarter, and more creatively.
The first part of the workshop will provide essential background and theoretical context, along with hands-on examples to demonstrate various tools and how they can be integrated into a typical development workflow. In the second part, we’ll move from theory to practice by building a working app prototype using AI tools and applying the newly gained skills.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Identify both general and technical risks associated with using AI for coding
Resort to best practices for junior and senior developers to integrate AI into development workflows
Distinguish between different use cases (prototyping, code completion, chatbot assistance) and select appropriate tools (Bolt, Copilot, Tabnine, Gemini in Google Colab and ChatGPT will be explored among others)
Write more effective prompts when interacting with AI coding assistants
Establish and put into practice simpler AI-assisted programming workflows through developing a small application
